About Lead Developer

A product’s lead developer (also known as a producer or project manager) concepts a product then solicits freelance writers to fully realize the vision. The lead developer serves as the developmental editor and might also do substantive editing or rewrites as needed, though a dedicated freelance copyeditor is also brought on. Finally, the lead developer implements playtesting feedback, lays out the book, and coordinates proofreading so that the book files are ready to be sent to the factory.
