profile-picKatrina Ostrander is a freelance writer, editor, worldbuilder, and game master who previously worked full-time in the tabletop games industry for Fantasy Flight Games. In addition to her work as an editor of tie-in fiction and developer of IPs, she has written for or developed over a dozen roleplaying game products, including adventures, supplements and core rulebooks. Her most recent credits include design and development on the core rulebook of the Legend of the Five Rings Roleplaying Game, as well as writing and development credits on the Genesys Core Rulebook and Realms of Terrinoth. Two of the adventures for which she was lead developer were nominated for a Golden Geek Award for Best RPG Supplement: Onslaught at Arda I in 2014 (written by Jeff Hall) and Beyond the Rim in 2013 (written by Sterling Hershey). She was also a contributing writer on Genesys and Star Wars: Force and Destiny, which were nominated for Game of the Year in 2017 and 2014.

Katrina graduated in 2012 from Wittenberg University with a bachelor’s of arts in Political Science and a minor in Japanese. She won the Ostrom Award for Excellence in Fiction in 2010 for her short story “Diana”, and she received the Jeffrey Y. Mao award for her work in the Political Science Department. She served as the editor-in-chief of the Wittenberg Review of Literature and Art during the 2009–2010 school year. She was the President of the Wittenberg Role-Playing Guild from fall 2009 through spring 2010, and again in the fall of 2012.

She lives in the Twin Cities with her husband, where she enjoys exploring craft breweries and taking walks in local parks when she isn’t helping with home renovation projects.
